Sauk Rapids-Rice High School and Mascot
The high school that serves the area was referred to as Sauk Rapids Senior High School (SRHS) from 1908 to 1969. Rice was added to the school district in 1969, and was added to the high school and middle school names of the Sauk Rapids-Rice High School (SRRHS) and Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School (SRRMS).
When Sauk Rapids-Rice High School was originally founded, the athletic teams became known as the Sauk Rapids Indians. In 1995, the district engaged in the process of selecting a mascot that would maintain the rich traditions and be respectful to the Native American people and heritage. The 1995-1996 school year was the first year of the Sauk Rapids-Rice STORM.

Storm Athletics Hall of Fame
The Sauk Rapids-Rice High School Athletics Hall of Fame is a memorial to the outstanding athletes, teams, coaches and community members who, through their citizenship and athletic achievements, have brought honor to themselves, our school and community. With a long and rich tradition of athletic competition and accomplishments, it is only fitting that the school and community remember, recognize and honor the outstanding achievements and contributions of the past.
Most years there is a hall of fame ceremony on the Saturday morning of homecoming week that honors Sauk Rapids-Rice Public School's outstanding athletic alumni, coaches, teams and devoted community members. We welcome the Sauk Rapids and Rice communities and friends and families to join us in this tradition. Tickets for the ceremony will go on sale the first Monday in September.
The Storm Athletics Hall of Fame will celebrate the next class of inductees in the fall of 2021. Nominations are accepted at any time. We review nominees and make a selection in April for the fall induction. Please download the form, complete it and mail it to:
